Reading Reflections

Dear Families,

Yeah! FCAT Writes is behind us and we are now delving into poetry.

This may sound like a repeat of an earlier post, but we are still trying to encourage students to put forth 100% effort into their Reading Reflections. Please take time each night to read your child's reflection. Please do not sign off on your child's reflection until this assignment is completed. We have received several reflections with a parent's signature; however, the child did not write anything under the minutes read or the reflection section.

Each week, your child is assigned to read for at least 20 minutes and to write a reflection about what he or she read. This important activity allows students to take time to reflect about what was read and write a meaningful response. Inside the Passport binders, there are several lists of ideas to write about. Included, are many sentence starters to get students thinking deeply about what they're reading. This is the perfect opportunity for you to sit with your child and have a conversation about the book. Sometimes, students just need a little prompting to dig deep into the text and respond in a thoughtful way. Please help your child with this valuable assignment each week. Thanks for your support.
