RESEARCH REPORT HOMEWORK

Dear Families,

Today, your child is bringing home the research folder we’ve been working on in class for his or her selected research topic. As homework, students have been assigned to use their research notes and resources to create a report about their topic. For this activity, students will have a choice of three different assignments to choose from in order to demonstrate their knowledge of the topic. Attached, you will find a rubric(scoring guide) for the assignments and a checklist which covers the elements that need to be included. This valuable project will count for two language grades this nine weeks.


Option One - Students may write or type a written report about the topic, which is organized and includes headings & subheadings(bolded), detailed information in paragraph form, pictures, captions, charts, and text boxes that cover all of the information that was learned during the research process. Just ask them about a National Geographic magazine article.

Option Two - Students may create a PowerPoint or digital slideshow about the topic, which includes headings & subheadings(bolded), detailed information in complete sentences, bulleted facts, pictures, captions, charts, and text boxes that cover all of the information that was learned during the research process.

Option Three - Students may create a brochure about the topic, which includes headings & subheadings(bolded), detailed information in complete sentences, bulleted facts, pictures, captions, charts, and text boxes that cover all of the information that was learned during the research process. This may be typed or neatly, hand-written.

Whatever option your child chooses, the assignment will be due on or before Tuesday, April 28th. If the assignment is turned in late, a student’s grade will be marked down one letter grade for each day it is not turned in to the teacher.
